The COP25 Development & Climate Day

The World Resources Institute/ International Institute for Environment and Development, WRI/iied, organized this event together with the Red Cross, EIT Climate-KIC and others.

iied has held Development Days in relation to the COPs since 2007.

The 2019 D&C Days focused on resilience and climate justice, providing key messages for climate negotiators.

This year D&C Days covered five themes: food and agriculture, finance, cities, infrastructure, biodiversity.

The COP25 Development & Climate Day

It was a day of informal discussion and dialogue for COP25 participants, with panel sessions on climate resilience for all. Excellent cultural contributions; wall paintings, cartoons and especially composed songs, enhance the messages.

As in most COP25 gatherings, Greta Thunberg and sometimes youth and The School Strike movement were mentioned, as well as climate action and sometimes climate emergency. This seem more to using expressions than statements of internalized urgent need for action.

D&C Days 2019 key messages: five pathways to a climate-resilient future

D&C Days are designed to:
Bring together practitioners, negotiators, scientists and policymakers to explore key issues related to adaptation to climate change in developing countries

  • Share best practices in development and climate change
  • Provide opportunities to disseminate scientific news, literature and reports, and
  • Promote linkages between development and climate.
